A 35-year-old motorcyclist from Murfreesboro has died following a hit-and-run collision at the I-24 westbound and I-59 southbound split, according to authorities.

Georgia State Patrol troopers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle on the interstate.

Preliminary findings indicate that a red or brown sedan struck the right side of the motorcycle, causing it to veer off the roadway onto the left shoulder and median. The driver of the sedan allegedly failed to stop and continued westbound on I-24 following the impact.

After being forced off the roadway, the motorcyclist, identified as Nicholas Daley, 35, reportedly collided with the end of a guardrail and sustained critical injuries.

Emergency personnel rendered aid at the scene before transporting Daley to a nearby hospital. Despite medical intervention, he was later pronounced deceased.

The incident resulted in significant traffic disruption, with multiple lanes temporarily closed as first responders managed the scene. The closures led to extensive delays and congestion affecting interstate traffic during the evening hours.

Authorities have not yet provided a more detailed description of the suspect vehicle beyond it being a red or brown sedan. The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the hit-and-run and is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
