ABILENE, Texas — A tragic rollover crash early Sunday morning claimed the life of Michael Menjares, 17, and left four others injured, according to the Abilene Police Department.
Emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 1:00 a.m. to the 6500 block of West Lake Road following reports of a serious motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Toyota RAV4 that had been involved in a rollover crash.
Authorities confirmed that Michael Menjares was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the SUV was carrying five occupants at the time of the collision. The remaining four passengers sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Officials have not released information regarding the severity of their injuries.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling southbound on West Lake Road when it began to swerve to the right. Investigators say the SUV then entered a grass drainage ditch before rolling over.
