Family, friends, and members of the New Church and Accomack County communities are mourning the tragic loss of Tyler Crockett, 25, who died in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Chincoteague Road in Accomack County on Friday, June 5.
According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 10:17 p.m. Investigators report that a 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by Crockett of New Church, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Chincoteague Road when it struck a 2014 Toyota Camry traveling westbound head-on.
Authorities stated that the impact was severe, causing the Ford Explorer to travel over a jersey wall and into a nearby marsh. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Tyler Crockett was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Camry sustained minor injuries and survived the collision.
